Menu Plan Monday

Hello everyone! I realized last night that I had gotten out of the habit of posting my menu plans. Maybe I'm a bit odd (quite possible!) but I have always loved reading other peoples menu plans, getting new ideas, and new recipes. I also really love menu planning. I usually pick out a couple cookbooks, grab a notebook, pen and ice water and have fun browsing over all the recipes. I own about 3 Mennonite/Amish cookbooks and this week, for some reason, most of my recipes came from those 3 cookbooks. What can I say? They have great recipes!

Breakfast
~Pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting (whole wheat flour, no sugar...I have no guilt.)
~cereal (we go to church over an hour away and so lately I have been buying cereal as a fast Sunday breakfast)
~biscuits with butter and honey/fruit
~eggs/bacon
~pancakes/applesauce
~baked oatmeal/ blueberries

Lunch- I never plan for lunches!
~whatever I throw together!
~leftovers!

Dinner
~Swedish Meatballs/egg noodles/ green beans
~Crockpot spaghetti/salad/homemade french bread
~Navajo Tacos/ Cornbread
~Savory rice/ salad/ homemade bread
~Upside down pizza/ fruit
~Grilled cheese/tomato soup

Thanks for dropping by!

Menu Plan!

It's been a while since I posted a menu plan. I'm trying several new recipes this week so I thought I'd share and let everyone know how they turn out.

Breakfast
-Giant breakfast cookies
-Banana pancakes (okay....so maybe I add some chocolate chips in there too)
-Apricot Bars
-Eggs in a Nest (or whatever you call it)
-Oatmeal

Lunch
-PB and J roll ups
-leftovers
-Egg Burritos

Dinner
- sweet potato burritos
-Bierocks
-Butternut Squash pasta
-Pizza
-Mexican Layer Dip (we just eat this as a main dish!)
-Spaghetti w/ artichoke hearts and tomatoes

I never really plan what I will serve to go with the main entree. We have lots of veggies in the freezer and I usually whip up some kind of bread. This week I was trying to experiment with more vegetarian recipes since we are trying to cut down our meat intake. That's what we're having!

Does anyone out there have any recipe suggestions?

Another week. Another menu plan.

As I look over my menu plan it seems a bit ambitious for me. But, I'm hoping to get caught up with all my housework, after the great flu bug of '09, before our company arrives this weekend. So, maybe I'll actually have the time to make some REAL meals.

John's brother, sister, dad, and their families are all coming to spend the weekend with us. We always enjoy spending time with them. It's a real treat for us! The children get so excited! Johns's brother is bringing a kiddie pool and we bought a kite last week that the children love. They are arriving Friday around lunchtime and staying till Sunday. Yippee!

Here's the plan for the week:

Breakfast
-pancakes
-egg in a nest
-smoothies
-waffles
-baked oatmeal
-muffins
-giant breakfast cookies (drool...)

Lunch
-Cucumber sandwiches
-P.B. & J. roll ups
-meat sandwiches
-taco rice/ corn/salad
-sloppy joes/ potato fries
-leftovers

Dinner
-Tomato melts/carrots
-meatballs/broccoli/bread
-stuffed shells/salad/garlic bread
-hamburgers/hot dogs/coleslaw/squash casserole/watermelon/avocado pie/pumpkin pie (father's day celebration!)
-leftovers
-egg salad/popcorn/brownies
-zucchini cakes/potato fries

Granted, all of this is subject to change depending on what I get in my CSA stuff this week. I still have squash and zucchini that i need to use up. Hence, squash casserole and zucchini cakes this week. I noticed this week's plan involves a lot of meat! We've haven't this much meat in one week in a LONG time but I'm craving it. And, no. I'm not pregnant. :) Although, on a random note, I did have a dream last night that John went out to buy a new van and came back with an adopted baby....prophesy?? Perhaps. :)

One more bit of randomness. My dear sweet husband, as an anniversary present, got me a new lap top! My other one was hurtin' after someone accidentally dropped it.

Isn't it cute? He even got it in pink for me. It's an inspiron mini 9 and let me tell you, it is mini. But it's so convienent. It's light-weight and compact. I even carried it in my diaper bad the other day when we went to the big city just to see how portable it was. It's great!

Thanks for checking in!

Menu Monday!

I actually got around to planning a menu this week! We've decided to try and cut back on the meat a little bit this week. Luke's been complaining of an upset stomach and, knowing that meat turns your stomach acidic, we thought we'd cut back some. I apologize in advance for the lack of links to recipes. I always think it's more fun when you can look up the recipes people are making. But, I don't have the time to type them out and they aren't on the Internet. So, if you see a recipe you like just let me know and I'll get it to you!

Breakfast
~hm (homemade) bagels
~Oatmeal
~Waffles with strawberries and whipped cream
~scrambled eggs and toast
~Baked Oatmeal with strawberries

Lunch
~P.B.&J. rollups
~cucumber sandwiches (remember those, mom?)
~buttered noodles

Dinner
~Lentil Tacos/potato fries
~Baked Spaghetti/salad
~Pizza/smoothies
~Mac & Cheese/ steamed broccoli/hm bread
~Chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes
~ Big, Fat Salad/hm bread (grilled cheese for the kiddos)

Snacks
~fruit
~baby carrots
~hm graham crackers (if I have time)
~crackers
~yogurt popsicles

What are you having this week?
