Pondering...

It started earlier this week with this post by Sarah Mae (who is one of my favorite bloggers, btw). Core lies that we don't even know we are believing. Is it possible? Are there lies embedded so deeply within us that we aren't even aware of it? Not only that we aren't aware of but that are affecting our relationship with God and others? Or how we deal with situations?

This topic has been on my mind all week. I've been trying to find some good material to study from but haven't come up with much yet.

Any thoughts on the subject?

I definitely think it is true that we have these types of lies. We all grow up in a fallen world, developing an understanding of God, ourselves, and others based on our experiences. From a very young age we figure out a way to deal with pain and disappointment, making life work without God...the messages we end up believing as a result of this vary based on our environment and experiences during key developmental stages. It's tricky because these are so second nature to us by the time we are adults, that even as believers we tend to make sense of God and the Christian life in the midst of these beliefs.

I'm curious to know more about what you learn from studying about this.
