Day 7 {Fruit}

Hi. My name is Amanda. And I love local produce.
Even more than that, I love wild produce.
Come on a little adventure with me as we explore all the wild (mostly) fruit that is within a mile of my house.

Pear tree in my back yard. Baby pears!

The huge fig tree on the east side of our property.
Have you ever had homemade fig newtons?
Hello, Delicious!

Tomatoes from our garden.

Growing all along the side of our road are wild blackberries.
This year they are kind of puney and small since it is so dry here.
But they are still tasty!

And my favorite, favorite of all!
Down the road and around the corner we have a patch of wild plums that grow along a fence line. These are the most delicious little plums I have ever had.
And look at that color!
Gorgeous!
I get so excited when I see these bright pink little guys pop up!

Have I mentioned how much I love living in the country?

Lovely photos, and all that fruit just within a mile from your home, how lucky can you be!

I love this post, and am fighting a slight pang of jealousy over your "wild" fruit. :)

I fighting the jealousy too! What fun fruit surrounding your home. Can you post a recipe for the fig newtons? I'm intrigued.

Wow! When I thought of this topic I wanted nothing more than to go get some pictures of fruit in their natural surroundings. But it just isn't like that here. I am lucky to find people with a lemon tree at a push here where I live. Maybe we are a little too comfortable with just settling for what is in store. Wish we had the land to grow our own.... Yes there are my green eyes too!
